| Not the rests of a former knight's castle, the bridge towers of the former Rheinbrücke stand beside the today in use railroad bridge in Duisburg Rheinhausen. |
|
| The two towers were part of a railroad bridge in Duisburg, that already 1873 was opend to the traffic. Through the two towers led two pedestrian ways on wich one could cross the bridge over the Rhine by feet on the left and on the right besides the track. A new, double-track bridge had to be built after the end the first World War. In the second World War this bridge was also destroyed and rebuilding after the war. |
|
A long, built viaduct leads the railroad tracks
on the Rheinhausener side over the Rhine meadow to the real bridge.
Just on the left of the viaduct there was the former Krupp's smelting works "Rheinhausen" of which only one single industry hall has been left. |
| The double-track bridge itself consists of a steel half-timbering construction and its middle part is more than 186 m long over the river. |
| Next to the railroad bridge here is a gravel washing field |

I like to be available for questions, suggestions or experience exchange.
I would be very pleased about an entry in my visitor's book.
